(Dates corrected on May 20, 2014)

Program Description
Toronto IBI's flexible Summer Break Camp schedule fits the needs of every family, and with full access to our indoor gym, crazy hot days and rain won't prevent our students from having a week (or two!) of sports and games-filled fun!

Utilizing the resources available at Toronto IBI Children's Learning Centre, curriculum and lesson plans are designed to target the social development and use of communication skills of children diagnosed with ASD/PDD/Asperger's Syndrome in many typical situations found in school and daycare environments (classroom, playroom, gymnasium, snack time).

In addition, with a low ratio of students to staff (maximum ratio of 4:1), Toronto IBI's Summer Break Camp is based on the principals set by our social skills program.

Prerequisite Skills Required for Participation
For children who have not participated in a Toronto IBI program in the past, parents will be required to fill out a questionnaire by email regarding their child's developmental abilities and identified needs before acceptance into our Summer Break Camp. Toronto IBI reserves the right to refuse service to children who do not possess the skills necessary to participate in planned group activities and/or may exhibit behaviours which may pose a danger to themselves or others.

To attend, children must demonstrate that they can:
  • Follow simple instructions from adults
  • Possess functional communication skills
  • Sit appropriately in a group setting
  • Indicate when they need to use the washroom

Toronto IBI clinical staff and/or camp coordinator may request that an in-person interview with a child take place before acceptance into camp.
